First we had leggings, now men get to wear corsets.
After skirts, make-up and pantyhose for men, the corset, onetime symbol of women’s oppression, might be the next big thing for fashion-conscious males.
Young Parisian corset maker Sylvain Nuffer began cutting, stitching and boning corsets for men four years ago and now sells 30-odd standard models a year at 500 to 600 euros (650 to 775 dollars) a shot, 40 percent more when made to measure.
“I felt frustrated by the lack of choice of clothing for men,” he told AFP. “I made one for myself and they kind of multiplied.”
Ok, guys, I know finding decent clothing is tough. I mean, besides virtually every department store, suit store, clothing retailer and Target, it’s almost impossible to find anything ridiculous to wear on a daily basis. Oh, sure, you could get a funny hat or maybe a t-shirt with a silly saying on it. But, when you REALLY want to look like a freak and don’t want the pain of nipple piercings or full-body tattoos, where do you go? What the hell is a crazy person to do?
Never fear. Where there’s a will to be entirely too effeminate, someone from the fashion world - usually someone in Paris - will find a way.
And the real plus here is that along with being suitable for a Tool video, fetish party or night on the town as a tranny, it will force you to stand and sit up straight. Your mother will be so proud.
