I watch Take Home Chef on TLC. It’s a mostly innocuous show and it’s funny to watch the hotties he selects flirt and drool all over themselves as this attractive chef cooks for them. Anyway, tonight he was in the wine country in California and met a couple at a fancy market.
As they are strolling around picking up duck breasts and foie gras (ew), they walk past a woman selling fresh truffles. He says, “I bet these are going to be ridiculously expesive.” He was right. Check out this shiz…
The truffles were $2500 per pound. That is not a typo. Twenty-five hundred dollars for a pound of mushrooms in a plastic box. Are you shitting me? They bought a tenth of a pound and paid $250. What the hell?
Hey, I’ve got some fungi in my backyard I’d sell you for fifty bucks if you’re interested.
Funny, when you were telling me this…the whole time I was thinking chocolate. Mushrooms don’t even make my radar. LOL.
