Songs for Good Spirits

Kent Newsome tagged me. It’s an odd feeling…being tagged. But, I accept the challenge and proceed forthwith.

The tag challenge was to list a song that is always uplifting to me. In reality, this is a far more complicated question than one would think. There are many songs that make me feel uplifted and for lots of different reasons. So, here’s my list:

“Atomic Punk” by Van Halen
“Stuck Between Stations” by The Hold Steady

Songs that make me cry in a good way:
“Virginia Wolfe” by the Indigo Girls
“Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles.

Songs that feel like anthems whether they are or not:
“Either Way” by Guster
“Where the Streets Have No Name” by U2

Songs that piss me off in a really good way (good for working out):
“(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding” by Elvis Costello

Songs that help me understand love for everybody:
“Alibi” by Duncan Sheik
“Mad About You” by Sting

Anything from “December” by George Winston

Songs that make me want to be a better musician:
“Donna Lee” by Jaco Pastorius
“Michelle” version by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

Songs that remind me why I BECAME a musician:
“Bring It On Home” by Led Zeppelin
“Yankee Rose” by David Lee Roth

Songs that remind me of being young:
“Have a Drink on Me” by AC/DC
“Shout It Out Loud” by KISS

Songs that remind me of growing up:
“Rikki Don’t Lose That Number” by Steely Dan
“Tomorrow Never Knows” by the Beatles

Songs I can’t stop singing once I hear them:
“The King is Half Undressed” by Jellyfish
“Top of the World” by Cheap Trick

And finally, one song that always makes me feel good:

There you go!
