I’m not always a big fan of Houston’s only daily. The lack of competition since the Post shut down makes for pretty lopsided reporting. But, I’ll admit that I like Chron.com. I think the folks on their web staff have done a very good job of providing a usable site with features that make sense and a clear, organized design.

The Bivings Report just released it’s top 10 list of best newspaper websites topped by The New York Times, the Washington Post and USA Today. But, fourth on that list is our very own Chron.com.

We like the non-newspaperish feeling that this homepage exudes. It’s significantly different from any other newspaper site. Chron.com offers its users interactive features such as comments and blogs, has a great RSS system made available right on the homepage, and looks good while doing it.

My feelings exactly. The list is rounded out with the Denver Post, the Knoxville News Sentinel, the Fresno Bee, the Austin American Statesman, the Tennessean and the San Jose Mercury News.
